Wyatt S. Baum

Wyatt S. Baum is a lawyer in La Grande whose practice runs across municipal law, real property, estates, and business. He represents the cities, special districts, and school districts of Eastern Oregon, and the families and business owners who live and work alongside them, and he counts it a privilege to practice in the town where he grew up, for neighbors he has known much of his life.

His public-body work covers what a city, district, or school board meets in an ordinary year: public meetings and public records, labor and personnel, contracts and procurement, ordinances, elections and annexations, land use, and the claims a public body must defend. For private clients he handles real property transactions and disputes, and land use on both the public and private side; he forms, advises, and winds up businesses and drafts their contracts; and he handles estate planning, probate, and trust administration, including estate disputes and matters of elder abuse and undue influence. He also litigates. He is fluent in Spanish and offers legal services in Spanish.

Wyatt was raised in La Grande, as were both of his parents, and his family’s roots in the community run deep. He met his wife at Brigham Young University-Idaho, took his law degree at Willamette University College of Law, and came home to La Grande to practice after his admission to the Oregon State Bar in 2011. Away from the office he is happiest outdoors, skiing and running, or at home with a good book, music, and good company; he and his wife are raising three daughters, and he feels fortunate that his work lets him help the people around him.
